Len Kovar began writing this book shortly after he returned from the war. For decades, it sat on a shelf. Now, in his eighty-eighth year he retrieved his story and his mothers records to complete this book. Len enlisted in the Army Air Corp at the outbreak of World War II. After training, he became a Bombardier / Navigator and served in the 541st Bomb Group, the 727th Squadron of the 15th Air Force, which was located in Foggia, Italy. During his eleventh mission, 2nd Lt. Lenonard J. Kovar was shot down, captured, and became a German Prisoner of War for nine months. This left an indelible effect on him.
After the war, Len graduated from college, met his future wife, Lorraine, and worked for a few years. Then he went back to school and graduated with an S.T.M. degree and served churches in Missouri, Montana, Massachusetts, New Zealand and California. Len also completed graduate work in the field of counseling utilizing the insights of Carl Jung and Roberto Assagioli. He was a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Counselor.
Although retired, Len is still an active speaker, has earned the rank of Third Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate, and enjoys the company of his wife of sixty years, his three children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
